ETEN
Je kunt in Orlando prima lunchen en dineren en de service is hoog. En ook hier is de trend duurzaam en organisch. Denk er wel aan een fooi te geven. In Amerika verdient het bedienend personeel namelijk schrikbarend weinig. Gebruikelijk is 15 tot 20%. Wij aten bij:

THE TABLE een nieuw concept in Orlando. Je dineert met 22 andere gasten aan een grote tafel en eet al naar gelang wat de kok in huis haalt. 100 dollar p.p. incl. wijn, aperitief en fooi.

FOGO DE CHAO een Braziliaans steakhouse, waar ze met pennen met verschillende soorten vlees langs de tafels gaan, aangevuld met lekkers van de saladebar. Diner 46 dollar excl. drankjes.


PRIMO, waar chef Melissa Kelly, die onlangs nog een belangrijke prijs heeft gewonnen in New York, kookt uit de tuin van het J.W. Marriott Grande Lakes. Italiaans en gezond. Drie gangen vanaf 50 dollar.

NORMAN'S, in The Ritz Carlton, waar we het lekkerst hebben gegeten. Chef Norman van Aken heeft veel prijzen gewonnen, het bedienend personeel is heel vriendelijk en de ambiance is Amerikaans, maar op een chique manier. Hier ga je echt uit. Vijf gangenmenu incl. wijn 140 dollar.

TIP
Wie de gezelligheid van een levendig centrum zoekt, moet zeker Winter Park bezoeken, dat ten noorden van Orlando ligt. Winter Park heeft gemoedelijke laagbouw en een centrum met veel terrasjes en restaurants gelegen aan een park.
